A system does not need to force a person to comply if it can teach them how to succeed.

In THE SHAPE OF “I”, recognition only occurs when the viewer adopts the correct position and holds it long enough for the system to process the face. Success confirms the behaviour; failure produces another adjustment. Through this simple feedback loop, an external condition becomes something the viewer begins to perform voluntarily.

The work turns recognition into a behavioural sequence: requirement → adjustment → confirmation → repetition. Rather than representing standardisation, the installation allows the viewer to enact the process through which a rule becomes self-directed behaviour.
