Heritage examines two repetitions taking place at the same time: pollution keeps returning, and everyday behaviour keeps continuing.
Filmed over eight months in a Moroccan phosphate industrial zone, the work connects an emission site, a construction site 200 metres away, and a village approximately two kilometres from the industrial complex. Across these locations, pollution is visible, audible, and openly recognised. Residents connect smoke and odours with illness in both people and livestock; workers also acknowledge its presence.
Yet the existing patterns of work and daily life remain largely unchanged.
The film does not ask whether people understand the damage, nor does it attempt to explain why they continue. It focuses on the repeated coexistence itself. When harmful conditions persist while the same actions continue to be performed, pollution can shift from an identified problem into a condition around which life is repeatedly organised.
