The work re-contextualizes the traditional "red veil," used to cover a bride's sight, by placing a veiled, static woman within a dynamic public crowd. This juxtaposition visualizes the persistence of historical "structures of looking." When the scene shifts to a private space and the woman re-veils herself, it reveals how discipline transforms from external imposition to internalized self-management, with a color palette echoing the continuous oppression in Raise the Red Lantern.
